My mother recently passed away and I was trying to think of what would be unique to put on her casket. I finally settled on a big red hat! This took me 19 hours to make over 2 weeks. First, I stewed about the mechanics (the stuff you don't see but is critical to the integrity of the design and the flowers staying fresh. Once I got that under my belt I had to put the flowers into the design. It took me several hours to process the flowers, I got 1,175 red carnations because there were other designs that I was going to do.
