Over The Top Floral Design

I was in the production studio the week of 11/17-21/2014 filming a new “How To” video for this amazing floral design that I am calling Over The Top Floral Design.

The content of this floral arrangement includes avalanche roses, hot pink spray roses, light blue vanda orchids, dark blue vanda orchids, white vanda orchids and fuchsia phaelenopsis orchids, plus a few dendrobium orchids that were used to make the hanging garlands with crystals on the ends.

Because we were video taping the production it took way longer than if I were just making this design for a client. And, this was quite heavy! The guys who lifted it onto the candelabra base for me estimated that it weighed about 85 lbs.

I want to give a shout out to the floral company who providing the flowers for this design. I met Ed de Groot while I was in Cancun in September speaking at the WEPP (Wedding Event Proactive Professionals) conference. He is located in Holland. He has a special division of his company that is quite experienced with shipping flowers all over the world.

They have relationships already with most countries which helps because these flower shipments must go through customs at any airport where they first arrive.

I have to say that the vanda orchids his company sent were the MOST BEAUTIFUL and long lasting flowers I have ever worked with! Even though the purple orchids are called blue, they were magnificent shades of purple, especially the shorter stems…truly the best purple orchid I have ever had the pleasure of working with!
